KIS Training wins Haringey Best Business Support Awards 2008

On Thursday 29th June, Keeping It Simple Training won the Haringey City Growth Business Award for Best Business Support Project 2008. The awards, sponsored by Haringey Council and North London Business, was held at The Decorium in Wood Green.

Over 300 of Haringey’s business community and supporters attended the event at which 8 awards were given in various categories. Yolande Burgess, Director of Business Support at the North London Learning & Skills Council, presented the award to Heather Skea, KIS Training’s Director of Marketing & Business Development.

On collecting the award, Heather Skea, who heads up the Enterprise & Business Support Team at KIS Training, said: “This is a great early birthday present to mark KIS Training’s 9th birthday at the beginning of June”. She went on to say: “Our thanks go to the real heroes and heroines, namely all the entrepreneurs and business owners make Haringey such a diverse and vibrant community”.

The Chief Executive, Sean Headley, commented later that he was “delighted to win the award on behalf of the organisation in recognition of KIS Training’s work over the past 9 years helping people start up and stay in business in the local area”.

One of the other winners on the night was Alexander Amosu for Best Entrepreneur 2008. Alexander started his first business, a cleaning company at the age of 17 with the help of Sean Headley and funding from The Prince’s Trust. Alexander gave thanks to Haringey Council and the College of North East London, and also to Sean Headley for having faith in him from the start.

Alexander has gone on to set up a highly successful ring tones, business, his own charity to support young people into business, and latterly a new mobile phone business aimed at the luxury end of the market.
