First Aid At Work

This 4-day course is delivered by St John Ambulance.

This course is delivered over 4 consecutive days. Open enrolment courses are available approximately four times a year at KIS Training or closed group courses can be arranged for individual employers, either at the workplace or at KIS Training.

Who should attend

Any person who has been designated as a First Aider at work. All employers in the UK have a legal obligation to make First Aid provision for their employees.

What will particpants learn

The knowledge and confidence to deal with any First Aid Emergency.

Course Content

  • Dealing with accidents and illness
  • Using a First Aid kit
  • Simple record keeping
  • Resuscitation
  • Treatment of an unconscious casualty
  • Choking
  • Treatement of a heart attack
  • Control of bleeding
  • Burns and scalds
  • Poisoning
  • Fractures
  • Shock

Attendance

100% attendance is required under the Health & Safety Executive regulations to qualify for the First Aid At Work Initial Certificate.

Certification

Certificates wil be awarded to attendees who both complete the course and pass the examination on the last day of the course. The First Aid At Work Initial Certificate is valid for 3 years after which a 2-day Requalification Course should be attended.
