Keeping It Simple Training are delighted to be associated with a new programme that has launched in North London, offering support to disabled people who want to start a business.
Run by disability charity Leonard Cheshire and Barclays, the ‘Ready to Start’ programme offers tailored support and training to disabled people, including help with producing a business plan, testing business ideas and getting started. They will also get access to computer equipment, IT training and the opportunity to take part in building a virtual community of other disabled entrepreneurs. Disabled people will be signposted to appropriate business advice and training and matched with a Buddy, who is a trained volunteer from Barclays Staff, who will work one-to-one with the disabled entrepreneur. As part of a nationwide project, which includes 27 different locations across England and Wales, the latest programme launched in Enfield, North London this week. It is already up and running in Wandsworth, South London. The aim is to provide support to 1,500 disabled people and help 600 disabled people to start up their own business over three years. Leonard Cheshire and Barclays are working together to proactively remove the barriers that disabled people face going into self employment. Disabled people should visit the website and apply online at www.readytostart.org.uk or telephone 08456 717173.
