The Young Entrepreneurs Scheme (YES) will be delivered between Haringey Education Business Partnership and Keeping It Simple Training Ltd. The project aims to enhance the skills, experience and qualifications of young people aged 15-18 in Haringey who are at risk of social exclusion, particularly those from BME groups. The programme is open to referrals from local Haringey Schools and will run from early October 2006.
The project will deliver a flexible training programme comprised of Business Simulation and Business Enterprise training, with progression onto the Business AQA qualification. The Scheme will be delivered as an after school and occasional weekend provision, facilitating opportunities for young people to develop Business related skills, underpinned by a Nationally recognised qualification.
The participants will have the opportunity to design and produce their own creative products to sell (e.g. ceramics, jewellery) and to write a business plan; learn about business finance; and improve their key and ‘soft’ skills. The training will be led by experienced professionals with knowledge of running a small business or social enterprise, and all beneficiaries will be provided with ongoing one-to-one support and guidance to ensure that their needs are addressed.
The project will provide a tailored programme of advice; guidance and training to young people aged 15-18, which will improve their access to further education, training, employment and self-employment.
